US President Donald Trump announced on the Truth platform that he has ordered a “total and complete blockade” of all sanctioned oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela. According to him, the South American country is completely surrounded by the largest naval fleet ever assembled in the history of South America.
Trump warned that this fleet "will only grow" and that the pressure will be unprecedented until, according to him, Venezuela returns to the United States all the oil, territories and other assets that were previously stolen from us.
In his statement, Trump called the government of President Nicolás Maduro an “illegitimate regime,” accusing it of using oil to fund drug-related terrorism, human trafficking, and criminal activities such as murder and kidnapping. He added that, for these reasons, the Venezuelan regime has been designated a foreign terrorist organization.
"Therefore, today I am ordering a total and complete blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela," Trump declared, adding that illegal immigrants and criminals who, according to him, were sent to the US during the Biden administration are being repatriated to Venezuela at a rapid pace.
On the other hand, the Venezuelan government reacted harshly, calling Trump's announcement a "grotesque threat." According to authorities in Caracas, Trump intends to impose an "unreasonable" naval military blockade, with the aim, they say, of stealing Venezuelan wealth.
