Social media giant Facebook has announced that it will stop publishing all content that supports the Taliban. The company said it has a dedicated team of Afghan experts to monitor and remove all content linked to the Islamic group.
This measure was taken after the Taliban for years have used social media to spread their messages and have influenced many citizens.
But it seems that their quick takeover of Kabul and takeover has caught everyone off guard, including social media companies.
A spokesman for Facebook has informed the BBC that the Taliban are a dangerous organization for this company.
"This means we remove accounts held by or on behalf of the Taliban and stop glorifying, supporting and representing them", said the Facebook spokesperson.
Facebook stressed that the policy applies to all of its platforms including its main social media network, Instagram and WhatsApp. However, there are reports that the Taliban are using WhatsApp to communicate.tvklan.al
