To extinguish the flames in Sierra Bermeja, work is being done from the ground and from the air
Although the summer season has gone and the temperatures have dropped, stabilizing the situation of fires in Europe, for Spain it seems that the nightmare of big fires is not over yet.
The fires have engulfed the Sierra Bermeja mountain range along with other municipalities in Malaga. Weather conditions have made the situation more serious, and so far over 400 people have been evacuated. According to the Spanish authorities of the evacuees, about 15 people are currently receiving medical assistance.
The fire which started shortly before 22:00 on Wednesday is still active while its causes are still unknown. 200 firefighters were engaged to extinguish the flames. Additional assistance through 3 airplanes and 5 firefighting helicopters have been sent in order to control this fire.
Due to the flames, several roads were blocked due to the presence of smoke and dust. In 2019, a fire in the same area also forced the evacuation of 500 residents in mid-August.
