A Malian woman who gave birth to nine babies is doing well despite complications during the birth.
"The babies will need medical treatment for up to three months," declared a spokesperson for the clinic in Casablanca, where the woman was born.
She was transferred to a clinic in Morocco at the end of March.
"The children are fine, but there is still a danger for them," said spokesman Abdul Kuddus Hafsi.
"There were 35 medical workers present for the caesarean section. "The doctors were able to stop the bleeding and save the lives of the mother and the nine babies," he added.
"After an ultrasound, the doctors were actually expecting only seven babies," Mali's Ministry of Health said in a statement.
The woman gave birth to five daughters and four sons.
Babies with multiple pregnancies often do not all survive as they are often born early.
