The European Commission has announced that it will release around 50 percent of financial assistance for Kosovo, worth approximately 216 million euros.
This EC decision comes after the smooth and orderly transfer of local government in the north, following the last local elections held in October 2025.
This was confirmed to Telegraf by a European Commission spokesperson, who announced that this decision will enable the signing of contracts for four new projects and the start of their implementation.
"This will allow the signing of contracts for 4 projects, representing a total of 34.6 million euros in European Union contribution, and the start of their implementation," the response states.
The European Commission has also announced the completion of the programming of all remaining funds under the Instrument for Pre-Accession IPA III for Kosovo, amounting to 181 million euros.
According to the Commission, "the Commission's financing decision for these funds is expected to be adopted in spring 2026, which will enable the first projects to start in the second half of 2026."
This development is considered an important step in the European Union's financial support for Kosovo, especially after recent political and electoral developments in the country.
The European Commission's announcement hints that the measures will not be lifted completely, as most EU member states would prefer, but will be gradually eased, while no concrete details are given on the deadlines and measures that will be lifted. /Telegraph/
