FIGHTING DEADLY MATCHES ON MOONLIGHT NIGHTS

Poetry by: Dan Denton
Translated by: Fadil Bajraj

Don't I understand?
the iron claw of depression
just as much as anyone else?

Don't you know what it is?
a steel grip on the neck from a circus strongman?
to never completely stop breathing
But does it make you wish something like that would happen?

how to make a black hole
that swallows all the light inside
until the last flames of the candles of our hearts
Do they start to laugh?

yes, I know the dragon's spirit –
I also know the weight of everything.
and like the feeling of nothingness
may be the heaviest burden of all

I heard it too.
to call the devil at midnight
and I had to catch up
after the sound of my name
like a security blanket in a storm
but I got caught
and you have to catch

when you find yourself waking up
in places where the sun no longer shines
you have to turn your head
and to seek the light

when life brings you to your knees
you have to get up and hit
there are pills and other shields
available to cushion the blows
but when depression happens
a deadly match on a moonless night
we must return the favor in kind
we must return the favor in kind
