BBC Newcastle presenter Lisa Shaw has died from complications from the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, the coroner has recently revealed.

Shaw died at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in the city just over three weeks after her first dose of the vaccine.

According to the investigation, she was hospitalized after complaining of a headache and doctors discovered a hemorrhage in her brain.

Lisa died in May aged 44 at Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary after being treated for blood clots and bleeding in intensive care.

People in the UK under the age of 40 are being offered an alternative to taking AstraZeneca after reports of extremely rare blood clots in the brain associated with low blood platelet counts.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has stated that the benefits of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine continue to outweigh the risks for most people. It has not been proven that the vaccine causes clotting, but these cases are increasing even more.

Lisa's family have previously spoken out after her death, saying she suffered a blood clot after receiving the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine.

Relatives of the BBC Newcastle presenter said she had severe headaches a week after the stroke and that she became seriously ill a few days after that.

The BBC said in a statement: “We are all completely angry, in disbelief, numb and saddened, that there is a void in our lives that will never be filled. We are so grateful for the time we had with her and have so many happy memories that we will have as a part of our lives forever. /tvklan.al
