Jamie Carragher deciphered his comments about Mohamed Salah's outburst after the match against Leeds United.
The former Liverpool defender reiterated his stance on the winger and shared his thoughts on his future.
"These types of players who have big egos, I understand that [speaking openly]. But that's probably why it took so long to get him out," Carragher initially said.
"At the beginning of the season, he was coming off the pitch in Europe; that was when he was resting. That was leaving him out. We always talk about a manager never criticising his players in public. Can you imagine if Slot had said about Salah after the Leeds game, 'he's been terrible all season, he doesn't come back, he doesn't score goals'? We would have said, 'Oh my God, you can't say this, you can't say that'."
"But on the other hand, there are people who defend the interview? If someone else said it about Salah, there would be an uproar and rightly so. You can't say that. If this is someone who talks a lot to the media and is always there, he doesn't talk to them. So when he speaks, he knows exactly what he's saying, he's smart."
Regarding whether Carragher sees Salah leaving the club in January, he gave his opinion.
"I think if Liverpool get the money they want, they probably will. I think they'll think they don't want trouble. I'd like him to stay and I think he can have a better farewell and have an impact between now and the end of the season," the former Reds captain concluded. /Telegraph/
