Jamie took control of Britney's life after concerns about her mental health in 2008, seeking the title of "legal guardian" over the singer's wealth and other aspects of her life.
For years, Britney asked her father to give up this title, where he could bet everything on the 60-year-old's $39 million fortune, accumulated over the years thanks to her concerts and albums.
The pop star's lawyer said it was a huge victory for Britney Spears and another step towards justice. However, Jamie Spears' lawyer insisted there was no current basis for him to withdraw and did not give a time frame for when he would relinquish his role.
The father-daughter story and long legal battle came back into the spotlight after the release this year of the documentary Framing Britney Spears, which focused on the singer's custody battle.
Britney Spears has not performed on stage since 2018 and for this, the singer blames her father, who did not allow her to sing again, as if he controlled the personal life of the 39-year-old, where among some rules, he forbade her to had other children.
After the court's decision, the legal guardian of Britney Spears' activities is her manager Jodi Montgomery.
