Mullah Baradar is expected to lead the new government in Afghanistan. The news was announced by the Reuters news agency, which refers to several sources close to the Islamic group. Baradar previously held senior positions during the Taliban's rule from 1996-2001.

The co-founder of the Taliban and the political leader of the movement, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, will lead the new Government in Afghanistan, reports Reuters. According to the news agency, Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob, the son of the Taliban's late founder and spiritual leader, Mullah Mohammad Omar, will take a senior position in the government.

A Taliban spokesman said the announcement of the new administration would not take place until September 4.

While all the leaders have arrived in Kabul where the final preparations are being made to announce the new government which will consist of 25 ministries. It is learned that Baradar held high government positions during the rule of the Taliban from 1996 to 2001. Although the latter have stated that their desire is for a consensual government, a source close to them said that the entire administration will be made up of Taliban members only. The latter took control of the territory on August 15.

Many world leaders are waiting to see if the next Taliban administration's actions will live up to the Islamic group's promises of being more moderate than during its brutal 1996-2001 rule. While the US forces withdrew from Afghanistan after 20 years of presence in this country.
