The hurricane threatens the northeastern coast of the USA
Hurricane Henry is moving toward the northeast coast of the US threatening to hit the region with strong winds, storm surges and heavy rain.
According to the US National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Henry was located 215 km south-southeast of Montauk Point on Long Island in New York state.
More than 42 million people in the region have been warned of the hurricane, which could produce storm surge and is also expected to cause waves that risk bringing major flooding.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio declared a state of emergency on Saturday ahead of the storm and urged all residents to stay indoors and be careful. He called on citizens to use public transport if they need to travel.
Residents have been warned to be prepared for power outages that could last five to 10 days. From the authorities, it has been said that this situation must be taken very seriously, to prevent any possible disaster. The event has canceled several music events, where thousands of New Yorkers were expected to gather.
