In the country, the injection of doses will also be applied for ages 12-15

Sydney's COVID-19 cases have dropped as the Australian federal government is pressing states to stick to a national reopening plan once the country reaches 70%-80% vaccination rates.

A group of federal and state leaders will hold a meeting as some states are concerned about high daily infections in Sydney even after two months in lockdown.

New South Wales recorded 882 new cases, most of them in the capital Sydney, down from Thursday's record of 1,029 cases.

Two new losses have been registered, while 117 people are in intensive therapy, of which 103 are unvaccinated.

The Premier of New South Wales, Gladys Berejiklian, has stated that she will focus more on vaccination rates and the number of hospitalizations than on confirmed cases of Covid-19.

So far, 32% of people over 16 have been vaccinated while Australia plans to immunize 80% of the population by mid-November.

Meanwhile, Australia has approved the use of vaccines for children aged 12-15 years.
