The American company, Apple, has released details of a system to find child sexual abuse material on users' devices in the United States.
Before a photo is saved to the phone's gallery, the technology will search for abusive material.
Apple has said that if something like this is identified, then the phone user will be reported to a law enforcement official.
However, there are concerns about privacy and whether this technology could be extended to phone searches for prohibited content.

Experts worry that the technology could be used by authoritarian governments to spy on citizens.
Apple has said that new versions of iOS and iPadOS, to be released this year, will have new cryptography applications to help prevent abusive material from spreading online.
Apple has said that this technology will also be able to identify modified versions of the original images.
