The US, UK, Belgium and Australia have issued warnings to their citizens. Those already outside the airport are advised to leave the area immediately.
Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo said his country ended evacuation operations after the US informed his government of a possible suicide bomb attack around Kabul airport.
De Croo said just over 1,400 people from Kabul were evacuated from Belgium, with the last flight arriving in Islamabad.
"The situation at the Kabul airport has deteriorated significantly. We received information from American and other sources that there could be a suicide bomb attack soon in the airport area, and access there was becoming more and more difficult and even impossible." said Belgian Prime Minister De Croo.
The United Kingdom warned its citizens that the security situation in Afghanistan "remains unstable underlining that there is an ongoing and high threat of a terrorist attack."
British Defense Minister James Heappey described the terror threat to people outside Kabul airport as "deadly" amid concerns that a branch of the so-called Islamic State is operating there.
US President Joe Biden said US-controlled airlift would have to end on August 31 due to a growing threat from the Islamic State group in Afghanistan.
It is said that up to 1.500 US citizens may still be in Afghanistan, and the Biden administration was making efforts to locate them. The CIA and the US military are conducting dangerous covert operations to get the Americans out of the areas they are currently using helicopters and ground troops in and out of Kabul,
Even the Australian foreign minister, Marise Payne, said there is a constant and very high threat of a terrorist attack. Danish Defense Minister Trine Bramsen warned that it is no longer safe to fly in or out of Kabul.
