US and allies: Credible data that ISIS may attack
Alarm from terrorist attacks at Kabul airport, in these last days of evacuations.
The United States and Western allies urged their citizens to avoid areas around the airport as much as possible because of threats from extremist groups to carry out armed attacks.
American media write that President Joe Biden has been informed by the intelligence services about the risk of attack, mainly by the militants of the branch of the Islamic State for the Central and South Asian area.
Officials at the US embassy in Kabul urged their citizens to stay in safe places pending evacuation. While British defense officials said they have reliable data that attacks may occur in the near future.
According to airport security officials, the targets could be the evacuation corridors from the waiting areas outside the airport perimeter to the interior, in which the identification of persons armed with weapons is almost impossible.
According to them, the greatest danger is from suicide attacks. As the August 31st deadline approaches, allies have so far evacuated 88 people since the middle of this month, 19 of them in the last 24 hours. Every 39 minutes, a plane takes off from Kabul airport.
