G7 leaders appeal to Biden to speed up evacuations
Around the airport in Kabul the situation becomes more difficult by the day as there is a crowd of about 15 thousand people who are making it difficult for those who have the authorization to travel.
In the urgent online meeting, the leaders of the group of the seven most industrialized countries of the world in the composition of the G7 will ask the American president Biden to speed up the evacuations as the deadline of August 31 approaches.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that the goal is to avoid a humanitarian crisis of gigantic proportions, so a postponement of the withdrawal date of 6,000 American soldiers from Kabul airport is needed.
About 16,000 people have been evacuated from Afghanistan in the past 24 hours, according to the Pentagon. More than 40,000 foreign and Afghan nationals have been evacuated from Afghan territory since July.
