More than half of American adults, 54%, believe the decision to withdraw US troops from Afghanistan after 20 years of war was "right," according to the Pew Research Center.
About 42% of American adults surveyed said the decision to retire was "wrong."
The survey was conducted from August 23-29, before the end of the withdrawal. 69% of respondents said the United States largely failed to achieve its goals in Afghanistan.
About a quarter, 26%, said President Biden's administration did an "excellent" or "good" job in "handling the situation in Afghanistan." 29% said that the administration had done a "favorable" job, while 42% of respondents said that the administration's actions were weak./VOA
