MEPs gave the green light to funds for the Balkans with IPA III
MEPs approved the proposal of the European Commission for granting 28 billion euros to the Western Balkans. Part of this financial package is the pre-accession aid (IPA III), with a total budget of over 14 billion euros, for the period 2021-2027 starting from January 1, 2021.
"These funds aim at the continuous financing of the enlargement policy, supporting regional cooperation and good neighborly relations. IPA III funds are conditional on deep reforms in the countries of the region to bring them closer to the EU".
This investment plan provides a path for successful regional economic integration, ultimately accelerating the EU integration process. According to Brussels, this plan should help transform the Western Balkans into one of the most attractive investment regions in the world.
