Some 250 tombs, dating back to around 4 years ago, have been discovered in central Egypt by a mission of the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities in Sohag Cave, the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities announced.
Mustafa Waziri, secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, specified that "they date from the end of the Old Kingdom to the end of the Ptolemaic period".
The excavations also led to the discovery of "many ceramic vessels, some of which were used in everyday life and others as miniature symbolic masterpieces, known as 'vots'".
"Vots are small spherical vases with a yellow coating on the outside", the communiqué states.
